Changing hosts.

Posted by charlenediane on April 27, 2008

I have finally decided to hop (ah such cruelty!) to blogdrive after letting wordpress host my blog(s) graciously for almost 3 years. WordPress rocks but being such a dummy when it comes to HTML and the likes of it, I just couldnt manage to figure out how to put those widgets and sidebar whatnots on my blog. It almost always comes out all over the place.

So here comes blogdrive and having stayed up late last night, I found myself attracted to how easy and simple it was to manoeuver around the page and add those nifty widgets that I have always wanted to put on the sidebars.

Perfeito :)

Still, blogdrive has its own shortcomings.. it doesnt support categories, building new pages, comment moderation and a lot of stuff that wordpress does. Or maybe it does, but I still haven’t been able to figure that one out either! Either way, it doesn’t bother me too much, because as long as it does its job fine, I’m already quite a happy blogger.

Btw, I won’t be closing my account on wordpress (for sentimental reasons - boohoo), but I will no longer be updating anything here.

If you have me on your blogroll, kindly edit the link to http://charlenediane.blogdrive.com instead.

See ya on blogdrive!

Many thanks :)

A freaky day of sorts.

Posted by charlenediane on April 24, 2008

Yesterday:

1) What I think is a hummingbird flew into my glass door. Stunned by the impact, it fell to the floor and we picked it up to take a shot of it before releasing it a few minutes later.

I’ve never seen this kind of bird before. It had a slim, orange beak which was about 2-2.5 in long and had very striking colors of deep orange, red, blue, white and purple.

2) No sooner had we set the bird free, another bird flew into the same glass door.

It had black feathers, and a brown/red underside with streaks of white at both it’s wings. The thick beak was a striking blue on top and yellow on the underside. I’m no expert in identifying birds so if you are a birder you would probably know the name of this bird.

Both birds can thank their lucky stars that my cats just had their breakfast, or else.

3) Someone left a puppy outside my gate. FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE.

It’s probably a 2 month old pup that was intentionally abandoned there by it’s “owner”, probably thinking that I would take him in and make him part my already huge extended family.

Which I did — for the time being.

I don’t have any choice but to keep him at the moment, until I can find him a good home. I would love to keep such a cute puppy but I already have 3 dogs and 3 cats of my own and can’t possibly take in another.

Sheba, my 8 week old kitten is currently very sick from a potentially fatal viral infection. She refuses to eat, drink or budge even an inch. Occasionally she lets out a sharp meow as if to let me know she needs to be held and stroked to relief her pain and I can only do so much. The doctor says that she has Feline Infectious Enteritis which is a very dangerous disease especially for kittens like Sheba who still have have a very low immunity system. It has been 4 days since I first noticed her vomitting and twice in the duration of 4 days, she had had a “seizure” and just for a few seconds, she would lie there still, lifeless as if she had left the world for good. But twice she fought and came back to life.

She really is a fighter. Under normal circumstances, a normal full grown cat would only have a one third chance of surviving. A long time ago, I remember losing my cat Kitti to the same disease and she died 3 days later.

Both JLo (Sheba’s mommy) and I stay up to babysit her all night. I have not slept in 2 days for fear of losing her unexpectedly. My work laptop accompanies me faithfully and every 10 seconds I look into the wee little box that I have put under a table lamp covered with a thick woollen sweater to keep the heat in. An incubator of sorts.

She has lost a tremendous amount of weight and is severly dehydrated and because she hasn’t eaten for 4 days, she’s reduced to nothing but skin and bones. The only thing that is keeping her alive are the IV drips and occasional milk + spirulina that I force feed by using a syringe through her tiny mouth.

Still, I am optimistic. That’s my little angel we’re talking about her. She may be small, but she’s a fighter and I have no doubts in her capabilities and will to survive.

She’ll be back. I promise.

** EDIT:

Please get your pet dogs & kitties vaccinated as soon as they are old enough. That is the only protection they have against fatal diaseases like these. I was going to be bring Sheba to the vet this weekend (ideally the best time to bring them to the vet is at 9 weeks old, Sheba just turned 8 weeks last Saturday), but the virus got to her first.

Over the weekend.

Posted by charlenediane on April 22, 2008

I still can’t get my head straight from all the activities over the weekend, and work is killing me. I’ve been up all night finishing up some assignments that were due Friday and it’s already Monday!

At The BED, with Clay, Lynda, Shahril, Jasmine and Faizal. More photos on FB.

Saturday afternoon, hung out at Coffee Bean (Wisma Merdeka of all places!) with Clay and Chris, two of my very good friends who are both like a brother and sister to me.

Haha this is such a priceless photo right mandak? ;)

I’m being such a lazy arse to blog lately but only because I am rammed at work. Need to focus, need to focus, need to focus..

In my sleepy stupor.

Posted by charlenediane on April 18, 2008

I called it early last night, getting in bed and tucking myself in a few minutes before 9pm. It’s a little past 3 in the morning at the moment, and I had had undisturbed sleep for the last 6 hours. Nothing managed to stir me awake, not even my kitty JLo who accompanied me to bed this time. I no longer let Sheba sleep in the room with me because she wakes up way too early and always manages to wreck some sort of havoc in the few hours you let her in. She’s quite the naughty devil, that Sheba of mine.

Rex, my 15 month old Rottweiler was howling when I went down to get something to drink from the kitchen. He has a wound on his left foot and I suppose he must had been howling from the pain. I sprayed some medication on his foot earlier this evening and the wound now looks a zillion times better than when I last saw it this morning. Still, I went out and gave him a quick scratch behind the ear and told him that everything’s gonna be alright.

My foot, alas, is killing me. I suppose it’s the bunion on my foot that is causing the pain, but the pain has become unbearable I’m beginning to suspect something else. Maybe it’s not the bunion. Maybe I have a vein problem or something. Maybe I injured a tissue. Or maybe because I stood for 3 hours straight while out with the crew at the clubs last night. I don’t know.

Out with the crew. More photos on Facebook.

I now have to walk with a stupid limp so as not to put too much pressure on my foot. And since I drive a manual, driving has now become a nightmare. Getting anywhere feels like a mission. A painful mission. I was thinking of seeing a foot reflexologist today, and then decided against it. I’m too much of a scaredy puss. Thank God my boss is leaving for Johannesburg today. I’ll be working from the comfort of my own home for 3 weeks which will give me a welcome break from having to drive to work everyday.

Going back to bed now. Am still feeling rather sniffly, I should try to get some sleep while I can.

Almost 8 weeks old.

Posted by charlenediane on April 16, 2008

Thought I’d capture a few shots of Sheba playing with the organza by the door (which has become her favourite play material - notice the torn bits there?).

She’s grown up so fast it’s hard to believe she was a wee little kitten just a few weeks ago.

What I crave for on a Sunday like this.

Posted by charlenediane on April 13, 2008

Sri Paandi’s banana leaf rice.

The massive portion they give you for only about RM4 per serving. The last time I was there in Feb I gobbled mine in under 5 minutes!

Why am I such a pig :(

Anyway, just went through some of my pic folders and here are some photos from my visit to Ellie’s I never got to upload in the past.

My sister Ellie

Daddy, Ellie and I - we were picking out a card for Shaney’s birthday

Ellie’s dog Kimi smelling my fat :P

I am going on a one week roadtrip early May driving and overnight-ing along the way, from Singapore to Johor, Melaka, KL and then finally to Port Dickson where Tiesto will be spinning at Freedom Fest. The last time I did this was way back in 2005 with some friends driving to the east coast of Sabah to Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Tawau and then finally to Semporna for a week’s diving in Sipadan. It would be great to get to do this again, provided I don’t have to drive a manual.

Counting down the days already.

Won’t let you fall.

Posted by charlenediane on April 12, 2008

Shaney, would love you to hear you sing this sometime :-)

Won’t Let You Fall
Music by Fergie

I’ll never let you go
So, never let me go
I will be your journey
And you will be my road
Down the stormy path
Love will never come to pass
It will be an anchor
Although the winds may blow

And through the depths of high and low
Wherever you will go, I’ll follow
To the end, back again
You know

Won’t let you fall
Fall out of love
‘Cause together we’ll be holding on
‘Cause all we have is us
Won’t let you go
Go away again
Because life don’t mean nothing at all
If I don’t have your love

I will dry your tears
Take away your fears
Let me be your shelter
Your heart is safe in here
So beautiful and pure
There’s nothing I would not endure
Oh, love as got me blinded
I see it all so clear

I’m down for you for whatever
Anything you going through
What’s mine is yours
Every little thing
I got you
Even when winds will change
Come smashing down and crashing on you
